How To Get Started

Pray for God's direction in starting a quizzing ministry
So you want to start a Bible Quizzing ministry? The first thing you need to do is cover the effort in prayer. Satan does not want our kids to be into God's Word and, in my experience, I have seen how he tries to undermine Bible Quizzing.

Get pastoral support and church board approval to begin quizzing
Once you have gotten prayer support, talk to you pastor(s) and get their support. The program needs to be lay-led, but with lots of pastoral support and encouragement. With the pastor(s) and church leadership supporting you, look for other adult helpers to work with the kids. Let me suggest asking parents who have kids ages 8-18 that might be involved in the program. I would recommend 2-3 adults to help get the program going.

Show promo DVD to excite interest (available from LifeImpact)
Now that you have your support in place and adults to lead, present the program to the church and see what kids are interested. If you would like to have a demonstration quiz, please contact us. LifeImpact Ministries has two different DVDs available for purchase which will help you both excite and recruit youth as well as begin your program. Youth ages 9-12 quiz in the Junior quizzing program which has less material and no International competition. Youth ages 13-18 quiz on the Senior level with a chance to represent our district at the CMA International competition held in July of each year. District yearly quizzing fees for all ages are $5 per quizzer plus $10 per team, payable to "Northeastern District" and sent to Claudine Campbell by January 1st of the current quiz year (Fall-Spring).

Set up a practice time with interested youth
With support, leaders, and youth ready to begin, set up a practice time and get started. The 2007-2008 quizzing material will be Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, and Colossions. Scripture portions can be obtained from the Western Pennsylvania District by e-mailing the district office at piszkerr@cmawpa.org. The cost for each book is three dollars ($3.00) and each quizzer should have their own copy. You can look at our links to find more info on where you can buy quiz books and questions for your practices. If you have specific questions and would like someone to mentor you as you begin your quizzing ministry, please contact us to put you in touch with someone. If you need jumpseats to practice with, contact . There are some extra sets available for loan if there is a need for this. You may also wish to attend a quizzing event near you to see what a tournament looks like and how quizzers compete.

Study the Word and have fun
As stated on our home page, the mission of Bible quizzing is "To see visible evidence of the application of God's Word in the lifestyle of each participant." This is our main goal within the quizzing program. However, the friendly competition between friends and neighboring churches within the district is also fun for the youth and helps get them excited about studying God's Word. Quizzers who study their material well and also master the skills needed to compete can even be selected to compete at our district finals each year. At this event they may compete to be selected to represent the Northeast District at the annual International Tournament hosted by LifeImpact Ministries at one of many C&MA colleges across the U.S. and Canada.

As you embark on this new avenue of ministry, continue to pray that God would lead you and the youth and that His Word would come alive and really bless each life involved. Feel free to contact for any help in getting started. Please remember there are people willing to help mentor anyone starting a new quizzing ministry.
